The Yoakum area will soon exercise a new option for keeping fit.  Anytime Fitness, an international franchisor of fitness clubs, will open in the former Alco building on US Hwy 77A.  “We plan to create a top notch club for the residents and workers of the area”, said franchise operator Chip Bubela of Schulenburg.  “There are residents of Hallettsville, Shiner and Yoakum who want the ability to work out anytime, day or night, seven days a week.”

Anytime Fitness uses security systems that allow members to access the clubs during unstaffed hours. The company, which began franchising in 2002, is expanding worldwide.   Currently there are 2,412 franchises in the USA and another 1,557 in other countries.  Members can use any club in the system at no additional charge.

The building sat vacant for four years after the bankruptcy of Alco.  “We are very pleased to sign Anytime Fitness to a long term lease”, said Sunny Panjwani, new owner of the building.  “We are actively seeking one or two other high quality tenants to lease the remaining 15,000 square feet.”

Anytime Fitness expects to open by November.
