The Yoakum Economic Development Corporation recently changed its long-standing policy to accept grant applications monthly.   Previously the YEDC accepted applications only in September.  Changing from a single annual deadline to monthly submissions will be beneficial for many businesses.

Since the change in early 2018 six new grants were awarded.   Business District Preservation grants went to Double D Ranchwear, 514-516 Lott Street, for roofing ($7,500) and Tacos Los Goldos, 310 Front Street, for plumbing, electrical and concrete work ($6,451).   Retail Enhancement grants were awarded to Perk & Brew, 210 W Grand, for signage, plumbing and electrical ($7,071); Dairy Treet, 901 W Grand, for plumbing, electrical and façade work ($10,000); Angel K Enterprises, 611 N South Street for plumbing ($4,625); and Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home, 1477 Carl Ramert Drive, for electrical work ($10,000).  YEDC grants require a minimum 50% match.

The YEDC used its entire grant budget of over $160,000 to assist in $825,000 of projects.   New applications will be awarded in October.
