Joint Promotions Coming Up
Laura Henson has a vision of creating a regional tourism effort among area cities. Henson, the director of the Yoakum Heritage Museum, realizes visitors to area cities are largely unaware of Yoakum. Concurrently, neighboring cities need to offer additional visitor venues to attract longer visits. After proposing the concept to Cuero Mayor Sara Post Meyer, representatives from the two cities’ museums, chambers, economic development corporations, and city staff met on January 31. The group will focus its initial effort on the 2018 holiday season and will create a joint marketing campaign, rack flyer, and a Facebook page. “In order to keep visitors here longer, it’s smart to promote our neighbor’s events” said Cuero Mayor Sara Post Meyer, “It increases the opportunity for hotel stays, dining and retail shopping”. For Laura Henson, whose museum’s Christmas Tree Forest will celebrate its 31st year, a vision is being realized.
