Yoakum’s Grand Birthday Bash July 27!
In what is evolving into an annual event, the city’s inception will be celebrated again at a Saturday night summer street dance in downtown Yoakum. On the evening of July 27 the Yoakum Area Chamber of Commerce, with assistance from the City of Yoakum, will host Yoakum’s Grand 132nd Birthday Bash in the 100 and 200 blocks of W. Grand Ave. Like the 2018 event, which drew over 300 people, two bands will perform. The Adam y Albert Orosco Band returns to the Birthday Bash to play its mix of country and Tejano music. Around 9pm, local band Southpaw will perform.
“Gates will open at 5:30pm under the arch at W Grand Ave and Irvine,” said Chamber President Miranda Wenske, “and admission, which includes a wrist band for alcohol purchases, will be $5.00 for attendees age 21 and over. Those under 21 are free.”
Popcorn and Cotton candy will be available. Happy birthday will be sung and cupcakes will be served. Beer will be sold by the Chamber. Coolers are not allowed. For the latest details see the Yoakum Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.
