The City of Yoakum is a city in Lavaca and DeWitt counties off of US Route 77 and is centrally located between Austin, Corpus Christi, Houston, and San Antonio.
It was developed in 1887 when the first train of the San Antonio Aransas Pass (S.A.A.P.) Railroad reached this area of South Texas.
